Construction of Begbie Road Extension is About to Start
We are pleased to provide Wilden residents with information on a new project happening in your neighbourhood – Begbie Road will be extended east to connect with Glenmore Road.
This project will provide additional access for Wilden residents to North Glenmore and surrounding areas by way of two travel lanes and two dedicated bike lanes, plus a sidewalk on the North side of the road. Improvements also include new turning lanes and the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Begbie and Glenmore Roads.
Along the northside of the new Begbie Road extension, 14 single-family lots will be developed on Wilden land. All lots for development are currently zoned RU1h Large Lot Housing.
Development of single-family lots on this site and the connection of Begbie Road are in keeping with the City’s current Official Community Plan and Area Structure Plan for Wilden. The same Wilden high-quality buildings and general neighbourhood character will be maintained in this development.
Work is planned to start early December 2018 and is anticipated to be completed by late Summer / early Fall 2019, weather permitting.
