When Giving Back Shines Brightest
The 2023 Wild One Run would have marked the 6th year of this event and though it unfortunately had to be cancelled. It is a testament to the spirit of giving when sponsors demonstrate unwavering support for a cause. The cancelation of this year’s Wilden Trail Run was due to the severe wildfire in the Wilden area on August 17th. Thankfully, diligent fire mitigation and brave efforts from fire crews prevented home losses and saved most of our natural areas. However, the trails have to remain closed for safety and restoration.
The sponsors of the Wild One Run have proved that their commitment goes beyond recognition at the event. After the cancellation was announced, they astoundingly remained on board, going above and beyond to ensure their contribution would still serve a meaningful purpose.
The cancellation of the Wild One Run was a heartbreaking decision for all involved. The event had been meticulously planned to raise funds for the Blenk Family Fund, which is dedicated to strengthening the network of mental health support and services available to young people and families in our community and beyond. The Blenk Family Fund operates in collaboration with the KGH Foundation, actively engaging in research and providing critical support for youth mental health, emphasizing both prevention and care.

When news of the event’s cancellation broke, the sponsors were presented with a choice. They could either have their sponsorship funds returned, or they could choose to redirect their contributions to one of two vital causes: the Blenk Family Fund, or local firefighters who courageously protect our communities when a wildfire approaches.
The extraordinary part of this story is that sponsors chose to donate their sponsorship money to these causes instead of requesting a refund, displaying their dedication to making a lasting impact on the community.
Sponsors and Donation Amount:
Geotility: $2,500
Primary Engineering: $2,000

The decision of the Wild One Run sponsors to redirect their funds showcases a profound sense of corporate responsibility. It is a powerful reminder that sponsorships are not just about logos and recognition; they are about tangibly improving the lives of those in need. By supporting the Blenk Family Fund and local firefighters, the sponsors are ensuring that families affected by wildfires and youth in need of mental health support will receive the assistance they deserve.
