It’s time to #MeetWilden! Meet Furry Wilden Resident Nelson, a Mini Aussie-Border Collie Cross.

Mini Aussie-Border Collie, puppy image1. What is your name and breed?

Nelson aka Nelso, Nelsy, Wäschebär (German for laundry bear)

I am a Mini Aussie-Border Collie cross born at a farm in Cawston BC.

2. Which Wilden neighbourhood do you live in?

I reside in and watch over the Skylands

3. What do you do for work and where can we find you online?

I model professionally and you can find me on Instagram @shanti_and_nelson

4. What do you do for play?

I love to bug my older sister Shanti, nap for hours cuddled up in dirty laundry and explore the Wilden backcountry.

5. What is your secret superpower?

I have my own language. It has more vowels than you have ever heard a dog use before. Sometimes my family thinks I sing, but I actually speak. It’s called Nelsonish and they will eventually have to learn it!

6. What are some of your favourite things about living in Wilden?

I like that I am able to oversee parts of Okanagan Lake and Kelowna, too. As a herding dog I like to know what’s going on around me. I love to watch over the lake in the early morning when I am actually supposed to do my business – I know my humans want to get back to bed, but hey … someone has to have an eye on the lake and make sure things are in order!

7. What is Kelowna’s best kept secret?

There’s a small beach not too far from our house. It is my favourite beach to play at and that’s also where I am currently taking swimming lessons.

8. What is your favourite locally made product?

My dad loves to shop at T-Bones for our BBQs. Whenever he goes there he brings home beef bones which I get to enjoy once in a while. They taste like heaven and make sure I grow healthy teeth.

9. If you could give $1M to charity, which one would you choose?

I would love to donate to Paws it Forward, a non-profit dog rescue which is Okanagan based and was founded in 2011. I believe every dog out there deserves a loving family just like mine and that’s why it is important to support those rescue organizations.

10. What is the one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

My older sister Shanti has the same parents as I. Sometimes people call us “Oreo Blizzard”, since our black and white markings are pretty crazy. You shouldn’t let her know, but I’m pretty sure I will grow bigger than Shanti soon.

11. If you weren’t living in the beautiful Okanagan, where would you live?

Hmm that’s a tough one as I was born in the Okanagan and haven’t seen very much at this point being 3 months old. I am pretty sure I would like Tofino. My family always says that it’s heaven for ocean lovers and dogs.
