It’s time to #MeetWilden! Meet Cameron Dodd, Wilden’s President & Director of Development.

1. How and when did you first get involved with Wilden and what is your role?

I joined the Wilden team in 2016 as the Planning & Development Manager. My wife and I had our eyes on Wilden as a desirable place to live for some time and I was fortunate to land my job here, and it was a no-brainer to move into the community.  I’m proud to say I’ve  worked my way through the ranks and am now President and Director of Development.

2. What are some of your favourite things about working with Wilden?

Wilden offers me work-life balance. Being able to work, live, and play in one area is a unique opportunity that I don’t take for granted.

I have a fairly diverse working background, with focus on construction project management consulting. My work at Wilden allows me to combine technical and creative aspects with foresight for future development while upholding the special natural setting. My wife likes to say that I work in the biggest sandbox – sometimes I wish it were that easy, but I really enjoy the immense responsibility of helping to shape our beautiful community!

3. What is your secret super power?

Sometimes I wish I could tap into the Force from Star Wars – Jedi mind tricks could be useful influencing project and development approvals through the various stages 😉

4. What are some of your favourite ways to relax and play in the Okanagan?

Anything outdoors. Taking advantage of the full four seasons and the many activities that are available in and around the area year-round.

5. If you were to build your dream house in Wilden, what are some must-haves you would include?

Lots of natural light, great outdoor space, and ample storage for all of our gear.

6. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

That I’m a terrible golfer. The Okanagan is undoubtedly one of the biggest golf meccas in Canada and I can’t swing a club for the life of me. It’s on my to-do list to take some lessons and improve my game so I can appreciate the world class facilities we have here.

7. What is Kelowna’s best kept secret?

I feel a bit like the secret’s out. Kelowna is one of the fastest growing communities in the country, and for good reason – there’s so much offered here! My family still enjoys finding quiet spots away from the crowds for hiking, camping, or just a day at one the many lakes in the area.

8. What is your favourite locally made product?

The famous Okanagan champagne powder snow!

9. If you could give $1M to charity, which one would you choose?

The Canadian Cancer Society or BC Cancer Agency. Cancer has had a big impact on my life in varying capacities and I would like to see more funding directed to finding a cure.

10. If you weren’t living in the beautiful Okanagan, where else would you live?

My family has always enjoyed spending time in the mountain towns of the Kootenays. That, or halfway around the world in Batemans Bay, Australia – I have family there and also love the beach lifestyle.
