It’s time to #MeetWilden! Meet Wilden Team Member, Karen Regier
1. How and when did you first get involved with Wilden and what is your role?
I have been working with Wilden for over 2 1/2 great years. My duties are a combination of many things. My primary duties are First Aid as an OFA 2,Safety Lady, labourer and skid steer operator. I also assist the Trades in various needs that they have.
2. What are some of your favourite things about working with Wilden?
3. If you were an animal living in Wilden, which one would you be?
If I were a Wilden animal, it would be a toss up of “our bald eagle” that flies around the site, or, a Wilden pond turtle. You sleep all winter, lay a couple of eggs in the Spring and then “hang out” with your other turtle and duck friends all summer just swimming and soaking up the Sun!
4. If you were to build your dream house in Wilden, what are some must-haves you would include?
My Wilden dream home would have a great view, a big country kitchen, a cozy living room and room for my kids to relax when they visit.
5. What are some of your favourite ways to relax and play in the Okanagan?
Some of my favourite ways to relax are swimming, hiking, and fishing in our beautiful valley.
6. Do you have a superpower or talent that nobody would guess?
A super power that I have is my Horticultural background. Having worked in some beautiful places in Kelowna, I am pleased that a gift I have is plants and using them in award winning situations and beautifying homes. I also love adventure and have been skydiving, cave diving, climbing up waterfalls, horseback riding, rappelling, to name a few.
7. What is Kelowna’s best kept secret?
Some of Kelowna’s best kept secrets are its many wonderful “one of” restaurants that we have in the area.
8. What are some of your favourite local Kelowna businesses you like to support and more people need to know about?
Local businesses I like to support are The Farmers Market, restaurants and small businesses that are offering unique and local products.
9. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
If I didn’t have to sleep, it would be fun to take courses in various languages (recently, I am working on sign language), construction, pottery, etc.
10. If you weren’t living in the beautiful Okanagan, where else would you live?
Who would want to live anywhere else, but in our beautiful Okanagan? But, New Zealand is really nice.
