It’s Time to #MeetWilden! Meet our Marketing Manager Johanna.

1. What is your name?

My name is Johanna Macheledt

2. Which Wilden neighbourhood do you live in?

I moved into Wilden’s Echo Ridge neighbourhood at the beginning of 2020.

3. What do you do for work?

My work life used to be very versatile for many years I’d say: teaching yoga classes around Kelowna, lots of freelance and remote work as a Virtual Assistant, as well as working for our small family agency, which specializes in film and photo. I’ve been working with Wilden as a contractor for quite some time, but as of October 2022 I have officially joined their team as their Marketing & Event Manager.

4. How do you relax after a hard day at work?

When my mind is really busy from work I usually like to unwind by moving my body in any way to recenter. I especially love taking my dog out for a hike or walk. I usually like to find a nice spot to sit down for a bit to just enjoy the view and let my mind wander.

5. What is your secret superpower?

Teaching my dog Nelson new, fun tricks.

6. What are some of your favourite things about Wilden?

I think the community up here in Wilden is amazing. Together with Lucie, I started teaching yoga classes at the Presentation Centre in December 2018 and it just amazes me how Wilden residents show up and connect with each other. Being a part of planning the Wild One Run each is also really special and a job I love. Besides that I really love how many trails I can access – I especially love the ones with lake view.

7. What is the most amazing adventure to go on in the Okanagan?

We have an abundance of great hikes and lookout spots throughout the Okanagan to find your next adventure. Another fun thing is trying new wineries, breweries and cideries all the way from Kelowna down to Naramata and Oliver. There are still so many wineries I haven’t been to and every single time I go on a wine tour I come across amazing small businesses. My most recent find: the delicious cheese from Poplar Grove.

8. If you were an animal living in Wilden, which one would you be?

Definitely not a marmot – too many predators! I think I’d enjoy being a deer. They aways look so elegant when they hop through the high grass and it seems like they have a pretty amazing life back there.

9. If you could give $1M to charity, which one would you choose?

I’d love to donate some of the money to our Blenk Family Fund for Youth Mental Health. Mental Health is a rising struggle and I think there’s still so much potential in the community to spread more awareness, to make mental health an open conversation. The other part I’d like to give to initiatives working on a more sustainable future.

10. Tell us about one of your greatest adventures/memories in Wilden so far.

Taking the E-Bike out for a ride on the trails one time was definitely quite adventurous and so much fun. One of my greatest memories is the first Wilde One Run we put on in October 2018. Such an amazing day full of good vibes, community and local support to raise awareness for mental health.

11. If you could choose anyone to be your neighbour, who would you choose?

I’d really like to have my parents who live in Germany as neighbours as I don’t see them very much. Or some of my best friends from back home would also be amazing to have close by.

12. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

If I didn’t have to sleep I’d like to spend the extra time learning and creating new things – I’d love to learn more about knitting and get better at it.
